InTRO

Worked closely with merchandising team, presenting creative decks and final designs to key stakeholders in what type of design to expand into our bag assortment. Design and developed specs, material sourced to create a daily backpack that fit into the existing bag assortment while also elevating the brand.

DEFINE

The key focuses for the FW21 bag collection at tentree were:

  1. Redefining user positioning and the functions of the tentree bag assortment

  2. Create a cohesive brand story within trim and forms

  3. Lower cost while maintaining the sustainable material story at the forefront of design

Process

Started the season with creative mood boards and research into the positioning of our user that had changed from a more technical outdoor user to an urban dweller that loves the enviroment. This dictated design in what features were crucial vs. nice to haves. Here established the litres, that this bag had to fit a 15” laptop, phone pocket, waterbottle, and enough pockets for electronic accessories.

Material and Trim mood board was key in working with a material developer in the type of fabrics and branding we wanted t move forward with the collection. A big change with this bag was no longer using cork detailing in the zipper and patch. Instead went for tonal branding but still used our logo wherever we could. Worked with the copywriter to work on a story patch that was inside the bag to add in a moment of delight and place to add in brand storytelling.
